Raise the Roof! Concrete Superstructure Complete for Kings County Hospital's New Behavioral Health Center Under RBSD's guidance, Phase IV of the Kings County Hospital Center Major Redevelopment Project in Brooklyn, NY is moving at a rapid pace. The project has been able to proceed in a fast-track manner by creating early packages for the excavation and foundation, as well as concrete superstructure, in advance of the award of the General Construction and MEP bid packages. The exterior skin is scheduled to begin construction in mid-May, with erection of precast concrete panels followed by windows and curtainwalls. All major construction packages have been awarded, and the concrete portion of the superstructure is complete to the roof, making the New Behavioral Health Center a noticeable landmark on Clarkson Street.
The IT and telecommunications package will be the last to be finalized so that the building can incorporate what will be the most current technology at the time when the project moves into the final stages of construction. It is especially important to incorporate the most cutting-edge technologies into the building because it has been designed to be essentially a wireless facility. |
