Client: The Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, Jamaica, NY
The Birthing Center expands and transforms a traditional labor and delivery unit into one based on the LDR concept. Facilities included 12 LDR rooms, four standard labor rooms and three delivery rooms, with an eight-bed recovery area. The interiors were designed to be as homelike as possible, with wood-look seamless vinyl flooring, residential-style wall coverings with decorative borders, built-in residential-looking cabinetry, corian countertops, tiled bathrooms, natural light through large windows, pastoral artwork in the patient rooms, and a configuration that maximizes patient privacy. |
